The Naming of Jesus in Hebrew Matthew

Naming of Yeshua in Hebrew Matthew Booklet The Naming of Jesus in Hebrew Matthew by Nehemia Gordon
A 16-page booklet examining the naming of Yeshua as preserved in the British Library Manuscript of Hebrew Matthew.
$2.95

The booklet examines the narrative of Yeshua's naming as recorded in Hebrew Matthew 1:18-25. The historical figure commonly known today as Jesus was a Jew named Yeshua who lived 2000 years ago in the Land of Israel. The original form of his name is recorded in the Hebrew version of the Gospel of Matthew preserved by a 14th-century Spanish rabbi named Shem Tov Ibn Shaprut. The Jewish scribes who preserved Hebrew Matthew up until Shem Tov's time followed scribal traditions that required them to make certain changes when copying this ancient Hebrew text. The booklet identifies these scribal modifications in order to peel away the layers of history and get a glimpse at the original Hebrew gospel penned by Yeshua's Jewish disciple Matthew Levi.

The new booklet contains a miniature reproduction of Hebrew Matthew 1:18-25 as preserved in the British Library manuscript. A full size print of this section of the manuscript is also available.

The booklet provides a unique educational opportunity to learn about the Hebrew version of the Gospel of Matthew with seven black and white images highlighting various features visible in the Hebrew text such as the abbreviated form of the name YHVH. The booklet also lists all the differences between Hebrew Matthew 1:18-25 and the Greek text with explanations about the reason for these differences. Additionally the booklet contains a guide to deciphering the medieval Hebrew script used in the British library manuscript as well as an English translation of Hebrew Matthew 1:18-25.
